Treating Snakebites in Austere Conditions

Myths abound when it comes to the treatment of snakebites and medical professionals are no exception from falling prey to these misconceptions. Things become even trickier when deployed medical officers are on unfamiliar terrain and dealing with a bite in field conditions. 

In consultation with the client, it was revealed that the regiment needed: 

• an entertaining training that would refresh existing knowledge

• digestible explanation of new content in an organized fashion

• a learning solution that would allow soldiers to access the training in their own time

• takeaway job for easy access in a field kit or Emergency Department floor

In creating the snakebite course, I:

  • wrote video scripts

  • developed training videos with Vyond

  • created multiple job aid options with Canva
